The invention relates to a sodium-based external wall thermal insulation powder coating which is prepared from the following components in parts by weight: 10-35 parts of inorganic rubber powder, 10-30 parts of short fibers, 5-20 parts of pearlife, 5-45 parts of floating beads, 8-20 parts of heavy calcium carbonate, 0.5-3 parts of a water repellent and 5-15 parts of 425 # cement. The powder coating and water are dispersed and stirred evenly at the temperature of 10 DEG C or above according to the proportion of 1: 0.8, the paste is constructed on a wall through spraying or blade coating, the effect that a coating facing and a face brick facing can be made outside without hanging a net is achieved, the coating expands after meeting water, air holes are closed, water vapor invasion is blocked, air holes are opened after water loss, and the coating has good air permeability and flexibility and is not prone to cracking. Cracking and shrinkage are avoided in cold winter, and heat insulation and moisture prevention are achieved in summer; the waterproof performance is good, and the material structure is stable; during construction, heat preservation, heat insulation, trowelling and whitewashing of the wall are completed in one procedure, so that the construction cost is saved, and the construction period is shortened; the service life is the same as that of a wall, and later maintenance cost is avoided.
