The invention relates to a ship lock and a construction method thereof. The ship lock comprises a lock chamber used for containing navigation of a waterway transportation tool; the enclosure structure is arranged outside the lock chamber and is used for resisting rock-soil bodies on the two sides of the lock chamber during excavation; the lock chamber comprises a buttress and a bottom plate which are connected with each other; the bottom plate comprises a center plate and at least two side plates, and the side plates are arranged on the two sides of the center plate and connected with the lock chamber and the enclosure structure. Structural joints are reserved between the center plate and the side plates. The buttress comprises a front vertical wall, a breast wall plate, a breast wall front wall and at least two rib walls; according to the ship lock and the construction method thereof, due to the fact that the enclosure structure is connected with the lock chamber, after the interior of the lock chamber is emptied or subjected to precipitation, the stability of the lock chamber is improved, and foundation stress and uneven distribution of the foundation stress are reduced through the dead weight of the enclosure structure and friction force between the enclosure wall below the bottom plate and a rock-soil body.
