The invention provides a protection device for a high and steep side slope of a tunnel portal, which comprises a protection net, a plurality of groups of anchoring mechanisms for fixing the protection net on the side slope and reinforcing plates connected between every two adjacent anchoring mechanisms, and each group of anchoring mechanism is respectively arranged at each corner position of the protection net; the anchoring mechanism comprises a pre-embedded anchor seat pre-embedded in the side slope soil and an anchor rod piece fixed to the pre-embedded anchor seat, the anchor rod piece and the pre-embedded anchor seat jointly clamp and fix the protective net, and the anchor rod piece penetrates through the pre-embedded anchor seat and is anchored in the side slope soil; the reinforcing plates are connected between the adjacent pre-embedded anchor seats, positioning nails are arranged on the side faces of the reinforcing plates, and the positioning nails penetrate through the protective net and are anchored in the slope soil. On the basis, the reinforcing plate pieces, the pre-embedded anchor seats and the anchor rod pieces jointly form an integral anchoring system of the protective net, when the local position is loosened, the influence on the integral anchoring system is small, and the protective net can keep good protective capacity.
