A cast lip for an excavation bucket, the cast lip being delimited by at least one cast body and having a length extending between sidewalls of the bucket, the lip being composed of an iron alloy having at least 7-10 wt.% chromium and 0.12 wt.% or less carbon and having a primary martensitic structure, the iron alloy is melted, the melted alloy is fed into a mold to form a lip structure, and the alloy is hardened to form a martensitic structure.
