The invention relates to the technical field of diatomite production and manufacturing, and discloses a production formula of columnar particle diatomite, which comprises the following raw materials by weight: 55-65 parts of modified diatomite; 1.5 to 10.5 parts of an adhesive; and 23-38 parts of a pore-foaming agent. The invention relates to a molding process of columnar particle diatomite. The molding process comprises the following steps: S1, preparing modified diatomite; s2, weighing the raw materials; step S3: feeding and stirring; step S4: granulating and drying; s5, roasting: putting the columnar particle diatomite prepared in the step S4 into a rotary kiln, and roasting at the roasting temperature of 800-900 DEG C for 10-30 minutes; and step S6: screening. By improving the formula proportion and the forming process of diatomite and performing columnar granulation, the adsorption rate of methylene blue can be further improved, and the problem that the existing catalyst or adsorbent has a relatively poor adsorption effect on methylene blue is solved.
