The invention discloses a decoration structure for a steel column and an installation method thereof. The decoration structure comprises the steel column and decoration plates installed on all the side faces of the steel column. Decorative lines are connected between the adjacent decorative plates, and the decorative lines are arranged corresponding to the corners of the steel column and are arranged in the height direction of the steel column. A lamp strip arranged in the height direction of the decorative molding is installed in the decorative molding, and a lampshade used for protecting the lamp strip is installed on the decorative molding.
