The invention discloses a free moving type algae cleaning device which comprises a protective cover and an ultrasonic assembly arranged in the protective cover and further comprises a floating body box arranged at the bottom of the protective cover, and a moving mechanism used for driving the floating body box to move is installed on the floating body box. The moving mechanism comprises an air injection pipeline located underwater, an air pump located on water and an air supply pipeline, the air pump is located in the protective cover, the air supply pipeline is connected with the air pump and the air injection pipeline, and the moving mechanism further comprises a driving unit used for driving the air injection pipeline to rotate in the circumferential direction. When the algae density of the target water area is reduced to a set value, the air pump starts to work, so that air is conveyed outwards, high-pressure air is conveyed into the air injection pipeline through the air supply pipeline, the air injection pipeline injects air underwater, and the air injection pipeline is pushed to move in the direction opposite to the air injection direction under the counter-acting force of water; therefore, the floating body box and the upward protective cover of the floating body box move on the water together, so that the algae removal device moves.
