The invention discloses low-sintering-temperature light-weight high-strength shale ceramsite and a preparation method thereof, and relates to the technical field of artificial light aggregates for concrete.The method comprises the steps that shale powder serves as a main material, biomass powder serves as a pore-forming template, and one or more of waste glass powder, plant ash, red mud and fluorite are compounded to serve as a sintering aid, so that raw materials are formed; the preparation method comprises the following steps: weighing the raw materials according to the proportion, and homogenizing to obtain uniformly dispersed composite powder; preparing the composite powder into a ceramsite raw material by adopting a granulator, sintering the dried ceramsite raw material at high temperature in an inert atmosphere or a reducing atmosphere, and cooling along with a furnace after sintering to obtain the low-sintering-temperature light-weight high-strength shale ceramsite. The shale ceramsite is simple in preparation process, low in energy consumption, low in carbon emission and low in cost, and the prepared shale ceramsite has a compact surface glaze layer and a porous core structure and has the advantages of low density and high strength.
