The invention relates to a locking device for a motor vehicle lock, in particular to an auxiliary locking device for a motor vehicle door lock. The invention relates to a locking device having a locking mechanism (1, 2) consisting essentially of a rotary latch (1) and a pawl (2) in terms of the basic structure. Furthermore, an electric motor (5) and a transmission (6, 7, 8, 9) downstream of the electric motor (5) are provided. The transmission (6, 7, 8, 9) preferably acts on the rotary latch (1) at least during the locking process. According to the invention, in order to mechanically interrupt the locking process, an actuating device (10) is provided which is arranged on the lock housing (4) and acts on a force transmission element (8) which is part of the transmission (6, 7, 8, 9) and which can be selectively engaged and disengaged.
