The invention belongs to the technical field of ceramic powder preparation, and discloses niobium boride-niobium carbide composite ceramic (NbB2-NbC) and a preparation method and application thereof.The composite ceramic is prepared by the steps that slurry formed by mixing niobium pentoxide powder, boron carbide powder and carbon black is subjected to rotary evaporation and drying, and then a green body is prepared under the pressure of 0.5-30 MPa; the preparation method comprises the following steps: carrying out heat treatment on a green body at the air pressure of 0.001-30 Pa and the temperature of 1600-1800 DEG C to prepare NbB2-NbC composite powder, putting the NbB2-NbC composite powder into a graphite mold, and carrying out spark plasma sintering at the temperature of 1800-2100 DEG C and the pressure of 30-45 MPa to prepare the NbB2-NbC composite powder. The NbB2-NbC composite ceramic disclosed by the invention has excellent mechanical property and oxidation resistance, and can be applied to the field of ultrahigh temperature.
