The invention provides a bidirectional speed type magnetic damper which comprises a shell, a rack movably inserted into the shell, a transmission device, two passive conductor plates, two passive control devices, two conductor plates and a magnet assembly, and the two passive conductor plates, the two passive control devices, the two conductor plates and the magnet assembly are arranged in the shell. The transmission device comprises a first rotating rod, a second rotating rod and a third rotating rod which are pivotally connected into the shell from bottom to top; the driven conductor plate sleeves the first rotating rod; the passive control device sleeves the second rotating rod; the conductor plate sleeves the third rotating rod; in a working state, the conductor plate rotates to cut the magnet assembly and the passive control device along with the sliding of the rack relative to the shell; the passive conductor plate rotationally cuts the passive control device. According to the embodiment, the occurrence time period of the peak damping force of the damper can be delayed while the damping force is increased, so that the damping effect of the damper is enhanced. In addition, compared with an active control technology, the damper has the advantage that the cost can be reduced.
