The invention discloses a PVA oil well cement fluid loss agent and a preparation method thereof. The PVA oil well cement fluid loss agent is prepared from the following raw materials in percentage by mass: 50-65% of polyvinyl alcohol; 3-5% of a cross-linking agent and borax; and the balance of filler and silicon powder. The fluid loss agent containing the polyvinyl alcohol structure is added into oil well cement, polyvinyl alcohol and borax are cross-linked to form a more stable net-shaped structure, the net-shaped structure is interwoven with cement hydrate, and a compact impermeable filter membrane is formed under pressure difference, so that water loss of cement paste is effectively controlled, fluid channeling is prevented, and the purpose of preventing fluid channeling is achieved. The silicon powder reacts with cement hydrate to form hydrated calcium silicate gel, so that the adsorption capacity can be improved, the permeability of the set cement can be reduced, and the compressive strength of the set cement can be improved. Compared with socialized products of the same type, the product provided by the invention has the characteristics of small water loss, short thickening linear transition time, high compressive strength, strong adaptability to cement and the like, and can meet the requirements of medium-temperature well cementation in different areas.
