The invention discloses a zirconia toughened alumina ceramic substrate surface metallization method, which comprises the following steps: S1, providing a zirconia toughened alumina ceramic substrate, and recording the zirconia toughened alumina ceramic substrate as a ZTA ceramic substrate; s2, preparing and forming a gamma-Al2O3 film on the surface of the ZTA ceramic substrate in the step S1 by adopting a cold spraying process; s3, metal foil is laid on the surface of the ZTA ceramic substrate treated in the step S2, and the metal foil is attached to the surface of the ceramic substrate; and sintering the ZTA ceramic substrate coated with the metal foil to obtain the zirconium oxide toughened aluminum oxide ceramic substrate with the metalized surface. According to the method, the bonding strength and the bonding stability between the copper foil and the zirconium oxide toughened aluminum oxide ceramic substrate are improved, and then the cold and hot impact resistance of the zirconium oxide toughened aluminum oxide ceramic substrate subjected to surface metallization treatment is improved.
