The invention discloses an assembly type grating ecological gravity retaining wall and a construction method. The retaining wall comprises at least one retaining wall unit, and each retaining wall unit comprises a wall body component and at least one grating wall body located on the wall body component; the wall body component comprises a horizontal base and a front side wall body integrally formed with the horizontal base, a plurality of ecological grooves are formed in the front side of the front side wall body, a plurality of drainage pipes are embedded in the front side wall body, and each drainage pipe is communicated with the corresponding ecological groove; the grating wall body comprises a concrete baffle plate, a concrete box body, a concrete stand column and a graded sand filter layer; a plurality of concrete box bodies integrally formed with the concrete baffle are symmetrically distributed on the two sides of the concrete baffle, a plurality of water permeable seams are distributed in the concrete baffle, a plurality of water permeable holes are distributed in the sides, right facing the concrete baffle, of the concrete box bodies, and the concrete box bodies are filled with graded sand filter layers. Concrete stand columns are embedded in the clamping grooves between the adjacent concrete box bodies on the same side. The retaining wall is of a grating structure, the using amount of concrete is remarkably reduced, and meanwhile the retaining wall has good water permeability.
