The invention belongs to the technical field of microwave dielectric ceramics, and particularly relates to a microwave dielectric ceramic material and a preparation method thereof, which can be applied to 5G/6G communication. The chemical formula of the microwave dielectric ceramic material provided by the invention is MgSi (1-x) GexO3, and the content of the chemical formula is 0.1 lt; and x is less than or equal to 0.3. The preparation method of the microwave dielectric ceramic material comprises the following steps: step (1), taking MgO, SiO2 and GeO2 as raw materials, and weighing the raw materials according to the molar ratio of three elements of Mg, Si and Ge in a target chemical formula MgSi (1-x) GexO3, wherein the molar ratio of Mg to Si to Ge is 0.1 lt; x is smaller than or equal to 0.3, sequentially mixing, ball-milling, drying, sieving and pre-sintering the weighed raw materials, and performing secondary ball-milling, drying and sieving on the pre-sintered powder to obtain powder; (2) granulating, sieving and forming the powder obtained in the step (1) to obtain a green body; and (3) sintering the green body obtained in the step (2) at 1300-1390 DEG C to obtain the ceramic.
