The invention provides a modularized trash rack structure of a water inlet and a water outlet of a pumped storage power station and an operation method. The modularized trash rack structure comprises an intercepting grid used for intercepting sundries, and the intercepting grid is arranged and installed between two gate piers; a cleaning assembly used for cleaning sundries is installed on the upstream face of the intercepting grid in a matched mode. A rotating mechanism for providing power is fixedly mounted at the top of the gate pier; the output end of the rotating mechanism is connected with the cleaning assembly and controls movement of the cleaning assembly. A cleaning table used for bearing sundries is arranged between the upper portions of the two gate piers, and the cleaning table is located between the intercepting fence and the dam. The upper surface of the cleaning table is flush with the top end face of the intercepting grid. A worker can start the mechanism to regularly clean the intercepting grid, sundries intercepted by the intercepting grid are fished through the collecting hopper, gaps of the intercepting grid are cleaned at the same time, after fishing is completed, the collecting hopper is turned over to enable the fished sundries to fall onto the cleaning table to be collected, and finally the worker cleans the sundries on the cleaning table.
