The invention provides a modified lithium tailing slag composite cementing material and a preparation method thereof. The modified lithium tailing slag composite cementing material comprises 60-70 parts of modified lithium tailing slag; 20 to 30 parts of cement clinker; 0.5 to 1 part of calcium lignosulphonate; and 0.2 to 1 part of rare earth. According to the modified lithium tailing slag composite cementing material disclosed by the invention, the environment pollution caused by the lithium tailing slag is avoided by using the modified lithium tailing slag, and the composite cementing material formed by the modified lithium tailing slag, the cement clinker, the calcium lignosulphonate and the rare earth has the advantages that the durability is high; and then the lithium tailings are processed through a cementing material and can be used for road, bridge, road, industrial and civil building engineering construction, so that the utilization rate of the lithium tailings can be improved, the ecological environment is prevented from being influenced by direct burying of the lithium tailings through soil, and building resources such as natural cement are saved.
