The invention discloses a chopped fiber toughened silicon nitride-based ceramic wave-transmitting material and a preparation method thereof.The preparation method of the chopped fiber toughened silicon nitride-based ceramic wave-transmitting material comprises the following steps that chopped silicon nitride fibers are subjected to surface treatment, and modified chopped silicon nitride fibers are obtained; preparing silicon nitride powder slurry, wherein the silicon nitride powder slurry comprises silicon nitride powder and sintering aid powder; drying and granulating the silicon nitride powder slurry to obtain silicon nitride particles; mixing the modified chopped silicon nitride fibers and silicon nitride particles, and then performing dry pressing molding or cold isostatic pressing molding to obtain a chopped fiber toughened silicon nitride-based ceramic wave-transmitting material green body; and sintering the chopped fiber toughened silicon nitride-based ceramic wave-transmitting material blank in a nitrogen atmosphere to obtain the chopped fiber toughened silicon nitride-based ceramic wave-transmitting material, the toughness of the chopped fiber toughened silicon nitride-based ceramic wave-transparent material is improved, meanwhile, the chopped fiber toughened silicon nitride-based ceramic wave-transparent material has good wave-transparent performance, and the strength of the material is not reduced.
