Provided are: a silicon nitride sintered body which has good mechanical characteristics and has a good product life when processed into a product; and a mechanical component and a bearing which use the same. The silicon nitride sintered body has a crystallinity of 75% or more and 90% or less as determined from an XRD diffraction pattern of a mirror-polished cross-section according to the following equation, contains one or more elements selected from the group consisting of Y, Ce, Nd and Eu in an amorphous phase, and does not contain inclusions having a diameter of more than 50 [mu] m in a surface layer portion and voids having a diameter of more than 50 [mu] m. Crystallinity (%) = peak area of crystal/(peak area of crystal + peak area of amorphous) * 100.
