The invention discloses a high-molecular crystal modifier for preparing alpha-type high-strength gypsum and a preparation method thereof.The molecular chain of the prepared high-molecular crystal modifier contains a large number of succinic acid structures, the distance between two carboxyl groups is matched with the distance between Ca < 2 + > ions on the (111) crystal face of alpha-semi-hydrated gypsum, and a stable chelating structure is formed; the adsorption and crystal adjusting efficiency is high, and is obviously superior to that of the conventional polyacrylic acid crystal modifier through comparison; the polymer crystal modifier prepared by the invention can be directly used after being separated and purified, and also can be matched with other crystal modifiers for use.
