The pore-forming material in the clay contains a crosslinked starch and an acrylic polymer, and the clay contains 1.0 parts by mass or more of the crosslinked starch under the condition that the P content is less than 0.2 parts by mass with respect to 100 parts by mass of the ceramic raw material. The honeycomb structure has an outer peripheral side wall and partition walls, the partition walls are disposed on the inner peripheral side of the outer peripheral side wall and define a plurality of cells, the thickness of the partition walls is 50 [mu] m-210 [mu] m, the porosity is 45%-60%, the P content in the honeycomb structure is 0.01 mass% or more and less than 0.2 mass%, and the isostatic pressing breaking strength is 1.0 MPa or more.
