The invention belongs to the technical field of asphalt pavement materials, and particularly relates to a multifunctional asphalt modifier, which is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by mass: 12 to 25 parts of surface modified aerogel powder, 40 to 60 parts of surface modified tourmaline powder, 10 to 16 parts of multi-base porous polymer powder and 20 to 35 parts of zeolite powder. The surface-modified tourmaline powder can reduce the mixing temperature, reduce pollutants and play a role in cooling and deodorizing; the zeolite powder has an adsorption effect and can adsorb pollutants such as small solid particles in the asphalt smoke, so that a smoke suppression effect is achieved; the surface-modified aerogel powder and the multi-base porous polymer have a synergistic effect, so that a heat insulation effect is achieved. The invention also discloses a preparation method, so that powder with different particle sizes and properties is mixed more uniformly, and a better synergistic effect is achieved; the dispersibility of the tourmaline and the SiO2 aerogel in the asphalt can be better improved, and the compatibility of the tourmaline and the SiO2 aerogel with the asphalt is improved.
