The invention discloses a construction method of an underwater foundation pit. The construction method comprises the steps that a continuous wall on the periphery of a foundation pit is constructed, and an upper layer supporting structure is constructed in the continuous wall; a steel sheet pile is constructed at a first position below the upper-layer supporting structure, the upper end of the steel sheet pile is located above the underground water level, and the lower end of the steel sheet pile is inserted below the horizontal position of the fourth support; underground water is continuously pumped and drained from the interior of the steel sheet pile to the exterior of the steel sheet pile, so that the interior of the steel sheet pile is kept in a pumping-dry state, and a fourth support at the first position is constructed in the steel sheet pile in the pumping-dry state; and the steel sheet piles continue to be constructed at the next position below the upper-layer supporting structure, water is continuously drained in the steel sheet piles, and fourth supports at the next position are constructed in the steel sheet piles in the draining state till the fourth supports at all the positions are constructed. According to the technical scheme, construction safety is guaranteed, construction procedures are simple, the structure is stable and reliable, and the upper limit of the underwater excavation depth of the foundation pit is improved.
