The invention relates to an arch type structure for protecting a current underground traffic structure and a construction method. The arch type structure comprises a plate arch, ground tie beams arranged at the two ends of the plate arch correspondingly, a tensioning piece connected between the ground tie beams on the two sides and pile foundations arranged below the ground tie beams on the two sides correspondingly. The tensioning piece is a plate arch steel tie beam or a stay cable tie bar. The construction method comprises the following steps: constructing the pile foundations underground in parallel; mounting an embedded plate of the plate arch steel tie beam at the top end of the pile foundation; erecting a plate arch and a ground tie beam bracket at the top end of the pile foundation; plate arch reinforcing steel bars and ground tie beam reinforcing steel bars are bound inside, the plate arch reinforcing steel bars and the ground tie beam reinforcing steel bars are connected with the pre-buried plate, and then the plate arch and the ground tie beam for installing and connecting the pile foundation and the plate arch steel tie beam are obtained through overall cast-in-place; and finally, the plate arch support and the ground tie beam support are dismantled, the plate arch steel tie beam is tensioned, and the arch type structure is obtained.
