The invention relates to a large cantilever steel truss mounting method which is used for mounting a large cantilever steel truss at the top of an existing building and comprises the following steps: S1, mounting a base at a ground design position; s2, cantilever trusses are spliced on the ground of the outer side of the existing building; s3, a cantilever end lifting support is built on the base, and meanwhile, a building end lifting support is installed on the top of the existing building; s4, lifting equipment is installed on the cantilever end lifting support and the building end lifting support correspondingly, and the lifting equipment is connected with the cantilever truss; s5, lifting equipment is started for overall lifting of the cantilever truss; s6, after the cantilever truss is lifted in place, the cantilever truss is fixed to the existing building; the large cantilever steel truss is installed in the installation mode of ground assembling and overall lifting, the assembling difficulty of the cantilever truss and the high-altitude operation frequency are reduced, and therefore the construction efficiency is improved, and the safety in the construction process can be improved.
