The mortar additive comprises a water reducing agent, a thickening agent and a water-retaining agent, and the water reducing agent is prepared from, by weight, 10-20 parts of methyl allyl polyoxyethylene ether, 8-14 parts of isobutenol polyoxyethylene ether, 2-6 parts of adipic acid, 10-15 parts of hydrogen peroxide, 5-12 parts of acrylic acid, 5-10 parts of sodium hydride, 5-10 parts of ferrous sulfate, 10-18 parts of VC and 60-65 parts of deionized water. According to the invention, the methylallyl polyoxyethylene ether and the isobutylene alcohol polyoxyethylene ether are uniformly distributed on a molecular chain, so that the water reducer can be gradually released and uniformly adsorbed on the surface of cement particles, thereby avoiding the problem of too high adsorption speed, and the adipic acid and the acrylic acid regulate the flexibility of the molecular chain and the distribution of adsorption groups. The adsorption process is more stable, the water reducing effect is ensured, the adsorption speed of the water reducing agent is stabilized, and the consistency of concrete performance and the controllability of the construction process are ensured.
