The invention provides SiOC ceramic and a preparation method thereof, and relates to the technical field of thermal insulation materials, and the preparation method comprises the following steps: respectively preparing a ceramic precursor blank and a ceramic fiber membrane precursor; the ceramic precursor blank is of a honeycomb structure; carrying out assembly treatment on the ceramic fiber membrane precursor and the ceramic precursor blank to enable the ceramic fiber membrane precursor to cover the through holes of the honeycomb structure to obtain an assembly, and then carrying out ultraviolet curing on the assembly; and performing pyrolysis treatment on the assembly subjected to ultraviolet curing to obtain the SiOC ceramic. According to the preparation method, the ceramic precursor blank and the ceramic fiber membrane precursor are assembled and then subjected to ultraviolet curing and pyrolysis treatment, and the obtained SiOC ceramic not only has the light and high-strength performance of a porous ceramic material, but also has the excellent heat insulation performance of a ceramic fiber membrane.
