The porous alumina powder comprises at least not less than 50% of alumina particles having a quadrangular structure in morphology, at most not more than 1% of alumina particles having a spherical structure in morphology, and at most not more than 5% of alumina particles having a needle-shaped structure and a sheet structure in morphology. The ratio of the edge length to the diagonal length of the bottom surface of the aluminum oxide particle with the quadrangular prism structure is 1: (0.5-5). The invention further provides a battery diaphragm, a battery and electric equipment based on the porous aluminum oxide. The porous aluminum oxide provided by the invention is beneficial to optimizing the electrolyte wettability of the polymer diaphragm, so that the electrolyte diffusion radius of the diaphragm is obviously improved.
