The invention discloses a decorative metal petal column and a construction method. Comprising a bottom support, a horizontal steel beam, a steel column, a roof steel structure, a common ring pipe and a decorative ring pipe. The steel column comprises a main body steel column and a spiral steel column; the bottom support is arranged at the bottommost part of the decorative metal petal column, and the connecting steel column is welded to the upper end of the bottom support; the lower end of the steel column is welded to the bottom support, and the top end of the steel column is welded to the roof steel structure. The horizontal steel beam is fixed between the main body steel column and the spiral steel column through welding; the common ring pipes are arranged on the main body steel column from bottom to top; and the decorative ring pipes are arranged at the intersections of the main body steel column and the spiral steel column respectively. The problem of rooting of the decorative petal column is solved by pre-burying the bottom support, the problem of a bionic tree trunk main body is solved by utilizing the main body steel column and the spiral steel column to be spirally expanded from bottom to top, and the problem of weaving of petals is solved by adopting the combination of the light and high-strength common ring pipe and the variable cross-section ring pipe.
