The rotary lock cylinder has a blocking element (25) that engages into the rotor in a closed position and releases the rotor in an open position. To displace the blocking element from the closed position into the open position, a latch element (33) is provided which can be moved along with the key. The blocking element is attached by means of the motor (17). The motor can be controlled with the data located on the key.
