The lock has a pivoting bolt (3) cooperated with a striking plate, and a driver (7) integrated to a pivoting ratchet (5). A retaining unit (9) retains the driver-ratchet assembly in a position spaced from the bolt in an open position of the lock for rotating the bolt. The retaining unit is subjected to a bistable elastic return in order to be stressed towards a stable active retaining position of the assembly to retain the assembly in the spaced position or towards a stable rest position, in which the unit retractably maintaining the assembly limits cooperation of the unit and assembly.
