With a view to reducing a variation in strength of a refractory material obtained by incorporating, into a refractory raw material, a scaly flake powder (aluminum flakes) made of aluminum and/or aluminum alloy, and for use in an industrial kiln, particularly, in a pig-iron/steel making process for the iron and steel industry, scaly non-leafing aluminum flakes made of non-leafing type aluminum and/or aluminum alloy is incorporated into a refractory raw material.
