The invention relates to a functional unit of a fitting for a structural member comprising a mounting frame and a wing, said functional unit comprising a base body and a coupling element that can be adjusted in relation thereto, the base body being designed to attach to the mounting frame, and the adjustable coupling element being coupled or couplable to the wing, or vice versa. The functional unit comprises a drive for the motor-driven adjustment of the coupling element over an adjusting distance in such a way that, in the mounted state of the functional unit, the wing coupled to the coupling element can be moved in the direction of the mounting frame, as well as a control device for controlling the drive, which is designed to provide at least one anti-pinch safety function. The control device is designed so as to provide the at least one safety function only over a first section of the adjusting distance, and conversely to deactivate it over a subsequent second section of the adjusting distance, in order to provide a contact pressure for a sealing engagement between the wing and the mounting frame.
