A functional unit of a fitting for a structural element that has a fixed frame and a movable leaf comprises a basic body and an adjustable coupling element. The basic body is designed to be fastened to one of the fixed frame and the leaf, and the adjustable coupling element has a contact portion which is or can be coupled to the other of the fixed frame and the leaf. The functional unit also comprises a drive system for the motorized adjustment of the coupling element between a retracted position and an extended position, wherein the coupling element is in active-drive connection with a translation portion of the drive system that is substantially linearly displaceable in a displacement direction, and wherein the contact portion can be transferred away from the basic body in a main adjustment direction by an adjustment movement of the coupling element from the retracted position into the extended position. The displacement direction runs transversely with respect to the main adjustment direction. The functional unit has a conversion device that is designed to convert a displacement movement of the translation portion into an adjustment movement of the coupling element.
