A sliding door fitting comprises a running rail (5); the running rail is formed by at least two rail parts (5a, 5b), on which at least one rail (7, 8) is formed for rollers (31) and/or sliding elements of at least one running part (30) for moving the sliding door (3). A mating connector (10) is arranged between the at least two rail parts (5a, 5b); a parting surface (50) of the at least two rail parts (5a, 5b) in the region of the mating connector (10) extends at an angle of at least 10 degrees to a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the running rail (5). As a result, a roller can be moved over the joining region of the two rail parts (5a, 5b) with lower noise. Furthermore, a method for installing a sliding door fitting is provided.
