The invention relates to a sliding door fitting comprising a guide rail (3) formed from at least two rail parts (3a, 3b), on which guide rail there is formed at least one running track (4) for a roller (23) of a running part (25) for moving a sliding door (21), wherein a profiled butt connector having a connection part (5) is arranged between the rail parts (3a, 3b) and forms a track portion (52) for the roller (23), wherein the profiled butt connector has a support part (6), which can be fixed to a top panel (20) and which supports the two rail parts (3a, 3b) at their ends facing one another, the connection part (5) being fixed to the support part. The invention also relates to a method for installing a sliding door fitting.
