The invention relates to a modular unit (1) for assembling a green roof, in particular a flat green roof or a substantially flat green roof, comprising a drainage component (2), a substrate for vegetation, and vegetation (20). The modular unit comprises a rigid carrier (2) and a flexible layer (3) supported on the rigid carrier, which flexible layer comprises at least one pocket (4), wherein the substrate is contained in the at least one pocket (4).
