The invention relates to a covering device for a swimming pool (1), comprising an inflatable cover (4) and a winding and unwinding device (3), onto which the cover (4) can be wound in a winding direction when the cover is not inflated and from which the cover can be unwound in an unwinding direction (5), wherein the inflatable cover (4) is formed by an inflatable body, which, in the inflated state, is plate-like and the top and bottom layers (6, 7) of which are made of a flexible material, the top and bottom layers being interconnected by means of a plurality of connecting threads (8) or connecting fibers and, in the inflated state, the top and bottom layers being held at a maximum normal distance from each other.
