INORGANIC FOAM BASED ON ORDINARY PORTLAND CEMENT
A method for preparing a mineral foam comprises: (a) providing an aqueous cementitious slurry comprising a cementitious binder, a foam-stabilizing agent and a set control agent; and (b) foaming the cementitious slurry; wherein the set control agent comprises (i) an α-hydroxy monocarboxylic acid or a salt thereof and (ii) an oxyanion source selected from the group consisting of a borate source and a carbonate source. An accelerator agent selected from the group consisting of an aluminum ion source, an aluminate source and a silicate source may be added to the cementitious slurry. The method allows the use of Ordinary Portland Cement or Limestone Calcined Clay Cements without compromising the final strength of the mineral foam.
