The invention relates to a damping arrangement comprising a wire or steel cable element (2) which runs helically in a plurality of turns around a longitudinal axis of the damping arrangement (1), and a counter-element (3) wherein: the counter-element (3) is designed as a bar; a portion of the counter-element (3) is arranged force-fittingly and/or frictionally in the wire or steel cable element (2) such that the turns of the wire or steel cable element (2) run around the bar in the portion; or the counter-element (3) is designed as a sleeve in which a portion of the wire or steel cable element (2) is arranged force-fittingly and/or frictionally such that the turns of the wire or steel cable element (2) run in the portion of the sleeve; and the wire or steel cable element (2) and the counter-element (3) are movable relative to one another in the direction of the longitudinal axis (I) such that frictional forces are produced.
