A method for forming a silica coating by spraying silica onto an outer peripheral surface of a quartz substrate 1 using a burner 4, wherein a thermally conductive material 5 having a thermal conductivity of 30 W/m·K or more at 25°C is fitted into an inner hole of the quartz substrate 1, and spraying is performed in a state where an inner peripheral surface of the quartz substrate 1 is in contact with the outer peripheral surface of the thermally conductive material 5.
