A railway rail baseplate apparatus (1, V) configured to provide a rail support region (1 1), for supporting a railway rail (2) on a rail foundation (100), and two anchoring devices (12A, 12B, 12A', 12B'), located on opposite sides of the rail support region (11), for retaining respective resilient railway rail fastening clips (3A, 3B) whereby the railway rail (2) may be secured to the rail foundation (100), which railway rail baseplate apparatus (1, 1') comprises a plate (10, 10'), made at least partially of plastics material and configured to provide the rail support region (11), and first and second metal parts (120A, 120B; 120A', 120B') each comprising a first railway rail clip engaging portion (121, 122, 121', 122'), a second railway rail clip engaging portion (121, 122, 121', 122'), and an elongate portion (123, 123') connecting the first railway rail clip engaging portion (121, 122, 121', 122') to the second railway rail clip engaging portion (121, 122, 121', 122'), wherein the elongate portions (123, 123') of the metal parts (120A, 120B, 120A', 120B') extend under the rail support region of the plate (10, 10'), the first railway rail dip engaging portion (121, 122, 121', 122') of the first metal part (120A, 120A') and the second railway rail clip engaging portion (121, 122, 121', 122') of the second metal part (120B, 120B') extend upwardly through the plate (10, 10') on one side of the rail support region (11) of the plate (10, 10'), and the second railway rail clip engaging portion (121, 122, 121', 122') of the first metal part (120A, 120A') and the first railway rail clip engaging portion (121, 122, 121', 122') of the second metal part (1208; 120B') extend upwardly through the plate (10, 10') on the opposite side of the rail support region (11) of the plate (10, 10'), such that a first one of the two anchoring devices (12A, 12B, 12A', 12B') is formed by the first railway rail clip engaging portion (121, 122, 121', 122') of the first metal part (120A; 120A') and the second railway rail clip engaging portion (121, 122, 121', 122') of the second metal part (120B; 120B'), and a second one of the two anchoring devices (12A, 12B, 12A', 12B') is formed by the second railway rail clip engaging portion (121, 122, 121', 122') of the first metal part (120A; 120A') and the first railway rail dip engaging portion (121, 122, 121', 122') of the second metal part (120B, 120B').
