Barrier with rotatable units for deterring intruders
The barrier 10 comprises a support shaft 17 along which a plurality of rotatable units 14 are mounted, each unit formed of a tubular portion 30 through which the shaft extends, and a plurality of blades 16 extending from the tubular portion. The outer surface of the shaft and the inner surface of the tubular portion have interengagement portions that allow the roller to rotate in only one direction. The interengagment may take place between a ratchet wheel 102 on the shaft and a pawl structure 100 on the tubular portion. Each rotatable unit may be formed from two interengaged elements, each comprising a tubular portion and a plurality of blades. The support shaft may be formed from a number of aligned lengths connected end to end. The barrier may include an acoustic alarm cable extending along the interior of the shaft, and forming part of an alarm system.
