Railway rail fastening clip for use with an insulator
A railway rail fastening clip 20, configured to be driven onto a railway rail in a direction which is substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of the rail (see figure 6), has a bearing portion 25 having a flat rail bearing surface 25A, wherein a detent 26, extending laterally with respect to the longitudinal axis of the bearing portion, is formed in the flat rail bearing surface, at a location spaced from a free end of the bearing portion of the clip, for engaging a corresponding abutment surface of an electrical insulator to be retained on the rail bearing portion of the clip. Preferably the detent has first 26A and second 26B abutment surfaces, the first abutment surface 26A is steeper than the second abutment surface 26B and adapted to resist unintentional removal of an electrical insulator on the bearing portion from the clip.
