Strut and node construction system
A construction system, e.g. toy, comprising nodes 1, having a plurality of sockets 3, and struts 10 having balls 11 at their ends, the sockets having circular mouths with a resilient annular gripping ring (6, Fig. 2) allowing snap-fit engagement and angular movement of a strut via a ball, wherein the system includes at least one node having a ball (7, Fig. 5) allowing node-to-node connection. The struts have necks 13 to allow angular movement, whilst the node ball connector 7 has no neck allowing a tight facet-to-facet connection (Fig. 6). The nodes may be cuboidal and every facet may have a socket or ball. Nodes may be a moulded polymer e.g. polyurethane having some elasticity and the ring 6 may be integrally moulded. Alternatively the ring may a different material and co-moulded or adhesively bonded to the node. Struts may be rigid and straight. Alternatively they may be flexible and retain their shape when bent (Fig. 7).
