A stable door has rubber tubing housed in a recess in the edge of the door. In the event of a flood the tubing may be inflated so that it partially occupies a recess in the door frame and doorstep. The tube may be inflated by way of a bicycle pump. Should the flood water rise to no higher than four feet (1.2m) the top part of the stable door can still be opened.
