A flood-proof door assembly 20 comprising a leaf 21, a sealing member 1 extending along part of the outer periphery of the leaf and mechanical drive means 10 operable to move the sealing member between a retracted and extended position. The sealing member may be on a carrying plate 2, 3 connected to a drive plate 4, and have a kinkable portion (1a, fig 3) that straightens when the drive means are operated. The drive means may push the a portion of the seal downwards and a portion of a seal to each side of the leaf. The drive means may comprise a rotatable handle 10a and cam (9, fig 3) to actuate the sealing member.
