Separator for removing particles of plastic from mixed particulate material
A portable manually movable separator may have a housing 2 mounted on a handle 3 with a hand grip 4. The housing may include an input 31 for mixed particulate material, with spinning brushes 8 to transport the material towards a cyclonic separator 10 which is followed by an electrostatic particle collector 15. The cyclonic separator has a bottom discharge outlet 12 for particulate material and a top discharge outlet 11 for air. The electrostatic particle collector has an electrode pair 16, 17 on opposite sides of the bottom discharge outlet to attract electrostatically charged microplastic particles which enter a particle container 22. Mixed particulate material from which the particles of plastic have been removed are returned through an output. The separator may particularly be used for separating and removing plastics particles from sand on a beach
