Biocompatible sealed ceramic metal assembly
A component assembly, and method of formation, is disclosed which comprises a metallic component comprising a titanium or titanium alloy; a ceramic component; and a metallic filler comprising a titanium-zirconium-cobalt alloy capable of forming a liquidus below the β-transus temperature of the titanium or titanium alloy, in the presence of the metallic component and the ceramic component. The metallic filler is disposed between the metallic component and the ceramic component to form a hermetic seal; said metallic filler has a cytotoxicity of extractable substances from the metallic filler as a numerical grade no greater than 2 according to ISO 10993-5.
