Self powered portable barrier apparatus for restricting traffic
The self-powered portable barrier has a cabinet 1 on rolling elements 3,4, incorporating a battery, motor and control system. The motor moves a boom actuator 12 between horizontal and vertical conditions. A boom, securable to the boom actuator, comprises one or more similar boom elements 19 which can be disassembled and secured on or in the cabinet, optionally on a rack 11. The cabinet may have photovoltaic panels 6, wheels 3 and deployable stabilisers 9, and the controller may be manually operable by remote control. Each boom element may comprise a body 14 with a coupling part at each end. One coupling part may be a rectangular spigot 15 and the other a complementary socket. The parts may have a snap engagement, coupling solely by pushing together and disassembling when pulled apart with sufficient force. This engagement may be provided by a spring-loaded projection 18.2 engageable in a recess on the other coupling part. Also claimed is a boom element for use with the barrier.
